San Francisco Single Homes for Rent Are Plentiful

While San Francisco is one of the most densely populated cities in the United States, it is also transient. Out of the 812,000 residents in the area, almost half of them are renters. This means that there are plenty of San Francisco houses for rent by owner available, you simply need to look. All of the city guides recommend that you spend the time to get acclimated to the area before you make a final decision. And there are plenty of neighborhoods for you to choose from.

There are over 51 neighborhoods that make up San Francisco. Some of these include the Presidio, Telegraph Hill, Twin Peaks, and Haight Ashbury. Why so many neighborhoods in one place? Maybe because San Francisco is the only city-county in California. Because it is the only location in the state that is considered a city and a county, it is quite large and diverse.

It is also one of the more expensive areas to live in California. San Francisco is near the top of the cost of living index, so be prepared to spend more money on food, rent, and utilities. Depending on why you are relocating to the area, this may not be an issue. Occupations in San Francisco account for the cost of living, so you will receive a higher salary here than you would at the same position in another location. It is similar to the difference in salary between working in New York City and Albany. They are both metropolitan areas, but the cost of living in New York City is higher, so they pay you more.

So, what does that mean in terms of rent? A two-bedroom rental in San Francisco can cost you anywhere from $5,800 dollars a month to $2,460 dollars a month. This is expensive compared to many other areas, but the square footage is better compared to rentals the same size in other locations. In addition, many renters prefer mid- to high-end condo units, so you may be able to find San Francisco houses for rent that are more in your price range.

You will also be able to enjoy many attractions in the area, such as Golden Gate Park, Pier 39, and historic Telegraph Hill. For those who love the ocean, there are several beaches and you can visit one of the few remaining reefs still in existence.
